Community Code

Cumberland Flux exists to make connection feel easy, natural, and welcoming. Our Community Expectations help ensure that everyone who joins us—whether for the first time or the fiftieth—can show up comfortably and participate at their own pace.

These expectations aren’t meant to police behavior. They’re simply the shared agreements that help us create the kind of space we all want to be part of.

  • Be welcoming. Everyone is new at some point. A simple hello, a shared task, or a small kindness helps create the rhythm of connection our events are built on.
  • Honor comfort and boundaries. People participate at different levels. Some talk a lot; some prefer to quietly enjoy the activity. Both are welcome.
  • Respect identities. Names, pronouns, and personal expression matter. We meet each other with curiosity, not assumptions.
  • Engage through the activity. Our events use shared tasks to make connecting easier. Participation doesn’t need to be loud to be meaningful.
  • Care for the space and one another. Clean up after yourself, support accessibility when possible, and help keep the environment relaxed and welcoming.
  • Assume good intentions, respond with kindness. If misunderstandings happen, we address them gently and move forward together.
  • If something feels off, speak to a host. We’re here to help make the event comfortable and smooth for everyone.

Cumberland Flux events are built on community, not consumption, and these expectations help us sustain a space where people of all backgrounds can feel at ease.
